This should be a great week of fishing, king mackerel, wahoo, tuna & even surf and bay fishing.
The place is great and we will have cookouts under the hotel.

Mark your calendar now for the MSSA Scholarship Foundation's fund raising dinner on Saturday, Nov. 4th at Fleet Reserve Club in Annapolis. The dinner is $25 per person & features an all you can eat buffet. There'll be a silent auction along with the dinner that afternoon.
These silent auctions often yield items, fishing trips, prints & pictures well below retail value so you have a chance to cash in on some great bargains, while helping fund the education of a deserving student. Call the office at 410-255-5535.
Discounts On Enterprise
Rental Cars
MSSA has a new contract with Enterprise. We have discount cards available at the meeting so pick one up. We distributed a bunch of these in July. Thanks to Steve for heading this up.
Membership Coordinator
Jay Betts has graciously accepted to take on this position on work with Ken Wheeler. If you have any suggestions please let Jay or Ken know and hopefully you may hear from Jay as he updates our membership rolls and
works to get more people active and increase our meeting attendance.

Chesapeake Bay Fishing Report
by Captain Ed Susa
If you haven't heard, the fishing in the middle and lower bay has begun to heat up. There are all kinds of fish and different ways to catch them from Deale Maryland all the way down to Crisfield and the Point Lookout area.
Live lining small spot In the False Channel at Red can # 4 still seems to be the ticket with keepers to 24". Make sure you fish the incoming or outgoing tides or will be a looooong day. Small spot seem to work best and make sure you give the fish time to swallow the bait
or you'll come up empty. Bluefish are around as well, so put about 1oz sinker on to get below these bait eaters or your bait will be gone before you know it. I have found that hooking the spot in front of the dorsal fin seems to work best. Spot have been abundant in the mouth
of the Choptank River around Buoy # 10. Bloodworms are the best bait to attract the fish then switch to fishbites to save the bloodworms for the next trip.
Some nice jumbo spot were caught this past weekend to 12" in shallower water over the clam bottom just off Cooks Point. Tommy Heacock, one of our past speakers caught a nice 35" Red Drum while croaker/spot fishing on the Diamonds last week. A picture is in the recent
Fisherman magazine. Seems that with little rain the salinity of the water is much higher and has been bringing some of these fish along with flounder further north. I heard from a neighbor that he was out flounder fishing mid week and caught over 20 of these fish, but had only
3 keepers with one over 20". He was using a combination of cut spot or bluefish strips, with a bull minnow and squid combination working best. He fished the ledges south from Red can # 2 at the mouth of the Little Choptank down past Taylor Island campgrounds.
A few of my buddies have been trolling for Spanish Mackerel with limited success on the Western shore from the Radar Towers to Parkers Creek. Remember to kick it up a notch (about 6mph) and use small Clark Spoons about 60-100 ft out. We jigged breaking fish with 2 oz stingsilvers
inside the false channel and the mouth of the Little Choptank catching a few small trout off the bottom and plenty of throwback rockfish and blues.
Further south I have heard basically the same action with live living from Hooper Straits to Solomons. Most have been anchoring up around the # 72 buoy. Trolling with surgical hoses or small spoons have been catching rock to 26" and plenty of bluefish in this area.
I have also heard that breaking fish can be found all over this area mostly in the evenings.Cooler weather should be coming soon and some of the best fishing is just about to begin, so grab your rods, dust off the boat and hit her hard.

Check dates on the 2yr registration to make sure it's not expired, if so you can renew & get your boat fishing license at the same time. If not, go to Walmart to get your boat license & avoid the rush.
