President's Message
by Stephen Shechtel
A hearty Thank You goes out to Ed Susa for the excellent job that he did in organizing this year's swap meet. The turn out was great. The event was well attended, and I hear that Ed was able to sign up a few new MSSA members. I thank everyone who helped
Ed, and who participated in this being our second annual swap meet and flea market. Guess who had a horse shoe up his pants at the meeting? Steve O'Neill, winner of the 50-50 and raffle! Way to go Steve.
Oh, and did you happen see who was manning a booth? Marty Russell. And guess who was walking the isles? Bill Johnson. It was good to see both Marty and Bill at the meeting.
At this time of year, I frequently find myself gazing out the window at the cold and grey sky. Just because it is winter it does not mean that there is not something happening to wet your fishing appetite. Boat and fishing shows are kicking off everywhere. There are seminars
to attend, gear to clean and I am sure something on the boat that is in need of repair.
Some of you will continue to fish. For those who are hearty, there is "inshore" Rockfishing beyond Dec 31st if offshore within the 3 mile limit. There are perch and crappie in the rivers. By the time you are reading this column, Bluefin Tuna off NC; Sail and Sword fishing
will be in season in Florida, as well as the Caribbean. Snook, Redfish, and Tarpon too!. Crabby's annual Key's trip will be taking place in just 5 weeks.
But most importantly, now is the time for family. I hope that this holiday season brings everyone here good health, much happiness, and prosperity. Tight lines to all.
SECRETARY WANTED FOR SCHOLARSHIP COMMITTEE:
MSSA's Scholarship Committee's secretary recently resigned after being elected to Secretary of MSSA. This is a very worthy function and committee of MSSA, granting scholarships to college students. If you are interested in serving on this fine committee, please contact Bill Huppert
at MSSA.
MSSA JACKETS:
MSSA's Board has located a new supplier for embroidered jackets. There will be three (3) different weights, a light weight windbreaker (similar to the present jackets), a lined spring/fall jacket, and a winter jacket. They medium and heavy jackets are much nicer than the old
style, a little more expensive ($10-$20), but much nicer. The new jacket will have an embroidered logo on the front with your name. They will be available starting in January and will come in your choice of color: Navy, Navy and Navy. MSSA will start taking Orders in January.
For further details, contact Jacket Chair Frank Holden at 410-686-2348.
