President's Message
by Stephen Shechtel

At the last Chapter Meeting, Rick Thompson was elected President. The following week Rick Thompson took control of many of the matters that came up at the Board Meeting. Rick's take is a charge person whom I know will do a great job as our president. Ed Susa was elected Vice President, Maureen Appleby returns as Secretary, and Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Leuters jointly volunteered to an appointment as Treasurer following an unexpected availability of the position. To each and every one of our new Officers, thank you for volunteering and best of luck. When you are asked to volunteer for a Committee Assignment, just say YES!

Have you purchased your January meeting dinner ticket? At $27.00 per person, it remains a bargain. Your Board purposely subsidizes this event so that you and your significant other can come to enjoy an evening with your "other" (fishing) family. Mr. and Mrs. Leuters have organized another great event for Dutch's Daughter. The Chapter will be giving away many $100.00 gift certificates as door prizes. See: Leuters, Pellicott, Shechtel, or Thompson for tickets.

Are you ready for the Swap Meet? Ed Susa has done a great job in organizing our December Meeting & Swap Meet. The New Market VFD will serve dinner. There will be many vendors selling all sorts of equipment at reduced prices. If you want a table to sell your used stuff, it's free! Just ask Ed at:

Are you a member of CCA? If not, you should consider joining. CCA and MSSA are working closer than ever to preserve Maryland's aquatic environment. The decline to the Chesapeake Bay habitat must be reversed.

A recent survey of the Directors for MSSA revealed that most were members. For more information, please visit:
http://www.joincca.org/

Did you get to see Bill Johnson at the last meeting? Bill recently underwent painful back surgery. He still managed to make it to the meeting. Please join me in wishing him a speedy and painless recovery.

In case I do not have an opportunity to address you before 2007, I send best wishes to you and your families. May everyone have a healthy, happy, and prosperous holiday season and new year.

Kids and Fishing
Have you taken a child fishing lately? Did you know that every Frederick Chapter Tournament has a child's division? Did you know that there are special prizes reserved for children? If you took a child fishing, take a picture of the trophy and get a copy to us for publication. Ed Sousa is working on a children's fishing classic. Please see Ed if you have any ideas for the event.
