President's Message
by Stephen Shechtel
There was frost on my windshield. Leaves litter the yard. A north wind blows long and hard. Yup, summer is coming to an end. And as the season draws towards a close, I hope that no one from Frederick has recriminations about their ability (or inability)
to go fishing in 2006.
By now, everyone who traveled to Hatteras has returned safely home. So as to avoid an inadvertent insult (hence; no names), I personally want to thank each and every person who worked so very hard to make this event a success. I know that many members did. Although Mother Nature
did not cooperate, the accommodations and facilities were first rate. So many pitched in so that a great time would be had by all, I cannot name everyone! There were cookers, smokers, Bar-B-Que grills, steamers, fryers, coolers, and music everywhere. Despite the weather, Frederick
Chapter was rocking from sun up to the wee hours of night.
If you missed the trip, there is always next year. Hopefully, the word 'Nor'easter will be only a bad memory in 07. Until then, remember that the season has not yet closed. MSSA's Fall Tournament, and winter Rock fishing trips remain on the horizon.
One last note; on the "Bite Me" (R. Thompson's boat), absent for the first time was crew member Martin Russell. Marty could not attend due to poor health. If you see Marty, please wish him a speedy recovery. If you can, say a prayer for him. It just wasn't the same
without Marty on board. Please join me in hoping that Marty will be able to return for our 2007 N.C. King Mackerel trip.
Tight lines to all and see you at the meeting.
December Fishing Tackle and
Boat Flea Market
It's not too soon to start putting aside those items that you have not used in years, or have no use for. Ed Sousa has volunteered to chair the December Meeting Flea Market. Please see Ed if you have any ideas for the meeting, or are willing to assist him in organizing the event.
