President's Message
by Stephen Shechtel

Last Sunday (August 27th) the Frederick Chapter hosted the first ever fishing trip for disabled veterans. Thirty disabled U..S Soldiers, who are Iraqi war veterans, went on an all expense paid fishing trip courtesy of the Frederick Chapter and many, many, volunteers. Charter Boat captains donated their vessels, restauranteurs donated food, and chapter members donated their time. A special thanks goes out to everyone who worked hard to make this event a success.

Next Month (October) two great events take place: first is our annual King Mackerel trip to North Carolina. If you have not gone on this trip, you should. It's a great time to do nothing but fish, relax, and enjoy the camaraderie that our Chapter offers to every member, whether the be a rookie or veteran "King fisher". The second is Frederick Chapter's "semi annual" election of directors and officers. Every two years, the Chapter elects new officers and directors. This is your opportunity to make a difference. The time commitment is literally 2 hours per month. So now is the time, so say YES, when Dave Griffin asks you to run for office.

For those of you who may have been impersonating Rumpelstiltskin for the past several months the Frederick Chapter was offering raffle tickets for sale to an all expense paid one week cruise on the Carnival Ships cruise line . The drawing was on August 9th, and was won by Mr Jay Lowery of New York who is the brother if Bob Lowery. The event raised almost $4,000.00 for our Chapter. To everyone who worked so hard to make this event a success, thank you.

Tight lines to all and see you at the meeting.

Kids and Fishing
Have you taken a child fishing lately? Did you know that every Frederick Chapter Tournament has a child's division? Did you know that there are special prizes reserved for children? If you took a child fishing, take a picture of the trophy and get a copy to us for publication. Ed Sousa is working on a children's fishing classic. Please see Ed if you have any ideas for the event.
