President's Message
by Stephen Shechtel
There is so much going on that needs to be communicated to everyone that I am writing announcements here instead of writing my normal column. So let's get started.
Fund Raising
Our chapter fund raiser is coming to a close. Ticket sales will close in August when we draw for the lucky couple who will win an all expense paid cruise. This is our chapter's only fund raiser. The proceeds are used to run the chapter, donations for our charitable endeavors,
and much more. If everyone in the chapter were to sell 10, yes only 10 tickets, then this fund raiser will be a smashing success. Now is the time to push ticket sales. See Robert Pellicot or Rick Thompson for tickets.
Elections
Yup... it's that time again. Your Officers and Directors are in the fall of their terms. Next November the Chapter will hold elections. Candidates for office are advertised in the September and October Newsletter. That means that candidates for office need to be identified before
September. If you are interested in serving the Chapter, talk to Dave Griffin or Stephen Shechtel. The time involved is minimal (about 10 Board meetings per year lasting 2 hours), the rewards are great, and without membership involvement, Frederick Chapter would cease to exist.
VETERANS FISHING TRIP
Capt. Jim Brinsfield, was very generous when he donated the use of his vessel the Jill Carey to take amputee soldiers from the Iraqi war fishing. As many of you know, Robert Canon brought to the Board a request that the Frederick Chapter sponsor a fishing trip for the veterans.
The Board voted yes, Dave Griffin agreed to chair the event, and well, the rest is history. The trip is scheduled for August 27, 2006.
