President's Message
Continued from Pg 1 Col 1

Have you registered for either, both or all of the tournaments yet? Early registration for our Tournaments will be at the next meeting. MSSA Tunament registration is right now.

For what it's worth department:

( Continued from last month )

Not only do we to have a lot of fun, but somehow we manage to help others at the same time. During the Tournament, two of our members took precious fishing time to tow in stranded boaters. Recognition of their good deeds are in order for the Captain and Crews of: Bite Me and Easy Rodder. I also want to thank everyone who helped pull Marty Russell out of the harbor. I know that Marty was very thankful.

Those members who were at the Solomon's dinner heard that Bert Edmonston was able to secure a new location for Frederick Chapter's Sixth Annual Fall Mackerel Tournament/Trip. The Chapter will be returning to Atlantic Beach - Moorhead City, N.C. If you have not gone on this trip, you honestly do not know what you are missing. Bert will be taking reservations at the May meeting so bring your credit card to reserve your room now. Before the Board was able to vote on returning to Moorhead City, it received reports from Ed Norris, John Travers, Rick Thompson, and others who traveled to several locations throughout North Carolina exploring possible locations to host this event.

At dinner, an announcement was made that the Chapter may relocate to a new meeting place. Chuck Mullaney and Jay Betts worked very hard and made substantial advances towards locating a new meeting hall. We will keep you advised.

Next month is the Chapter's Flounder Tournament. Rick Etzler has put a lot of time in organizing this event. (And a thank you is owed to Donna at Cap't Bob's for everything she donated to make the Tournament a success.) Rick Etzler has been assisted by Michael Beans.

For what it's worth department:

If you have learned anything about our Chapter from this column, it's that there are many many people at Frederick #22 who are working hard to make things happen for you every month. If your name does not appear and you have volunteered your time and energy, I apologize to you now and hope that you know that there was no intention to slight or offend anyone. If your name does not appear because you have not volunteered, then maybe it is because it's now your turn.

See you at the meeting.

Report from Bill's Fishing
Shack
By Bill Johnson

By the time you receive this report, the 2005 trophy rockfish season will have drawn to a close. The low water temperatures held plenty of trophy fish as of this report on the 22nd of May. Again, if you have problems connecting with the feisty fish, check with some of the more experienced Bay fishermen in the chapter such as Crabby or Charlie Appleby, just to name two. On my trip on the 22nd of May, I had to work at "fishing" for the stripers rather than simply running out and "catching" my limit in a couple of hours. I even caught one of the few slot fish (18" - 28") now showing up out of the Solomons area.

In other reports, the hardhead are showing up at Cove Point Beach at night and a few reports of catches in the traditional edges in the Patuxent River. Have also heard of a few rogue spot being taken. A few bluefish have showed up in the chum lines around Reedville, VA, so it shouldn't be long before they're here in the mouth of the Patuxent. Again, as of this report on the 22nd, Bay surface water temperature out of Solomons was 64 degrees, which should prompt some flounder showing up before long and the black drum run.

For any questions about legislative issues or fishing, I can be reached at my Frederick number, 301-663-4802.

For the latest fishing report, call me at the Fishin' Shack at 410-326-1891.
