President's Message
by Stephen Shechtel
Over the past several months, it has been obvious to many that we outgrew the clubhouse at the Thurmont Conservation & Sportsman Club ("TCSC"). The TCSC was very generous to share their facilities with us. TCSC practically saved our club
following our vacating D&D Safe and Lock when D&D sold its facility. On behalf of the Chapter, I will express a hearty thank you to TCSC on behalf of the Chapter. Also, the Board approved a donation to TCSC in appreciation of their generosity and kindness.
Beginning June 8th, Frederick #22 will commence all monthly chapter meetings at the New Market District Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department. The meeting room is much larger, just minutes from I-70, and will hopefully be home for many years to come as we continue to grow. I hope
see you at the next meeting. Come out and see for yourself how things are improving.
From the weather, sportfishing magazines, NMFS, my mailbox, and the talk around the docks, it's the start of offshore season. Everywhere and everything I look at that involves fishing is about tuna, dolphin, wahoo, billfish, or preparing your vessel to venture offshore. And the
tuna reports coming out of North Carolina are just phenomenal.
Having already armed myself with a 2005 NMFS license, fresh line on the reels, new spreader bars and lures, two new 50's, and a new color finder for Reel Love, I've got to admit it, I got tuna fever. Don't you? I cannot wait to get offshore.
Knowing that Tuna Fever is very contagious, the Board has been hard at work to find a cure. The June meeting will emphasize how to do it right offshore. This meeting is just another in a long string of reasons why you should be at the New Market VFD on June 8th at 7:00 P.M.
June 24th is MSSA's Tunament. Frederick's Tuna Tournament is July 16-17th. Frederick's Mackerel Tournament will be October 10-14th.

Next Meeting
June 8th 2005:
Food service starts at 6:00
Meeting starts at 7:00
Alert: All meetings starting with the June 8th meeting will be held at the New Market Fire House.
Directions:
To get there take exit 62 off of
I-70 northbound on MD 75. Turn left at the stoplight and the fire house is on the left about 0.9 miles down the road. Turn left either before or after the fire house.
Speaker:
Our very own Bert Edmonston and business partner Bill Tino will be doing a presentation on offshore fishing on small boats. Bill was the Ocean City White Marlin Club's top small boat angler for white marlin last year with over 30 releases. They will talk about dredges,
bait rigging with the secret guacamole rig, daisy chain spreader bars etc. This will be a very informative meeting right before the Tunament.
Vendor:
Bert and Bill just started a new company called Squid Nation and we do have some Shimano and Penn internationals available, but we are not stocking these items.
The primary focus of Squid Nation is squids and related items like daisey chains, spreader bars and such. As our company grows we plan to carry more things like lures and such that are productive for us.
Bring your wallet as we will have the best prices and get ready for offshore fishing.
