Membership News
By Ken Wheeler

Welcome new members to the Frederick Chapter.

The MSSA is looking to improve communications & public relations in 2005, which will lead to increased membership & overall exposure of our organization. A membership committee has been formed to accomplish this objective through such means as advertising at sports shows & press releases in local publications. Also of interest is developing "on-line" membership application & tournament entry. The committee is in need of volunteers to assist with this mission by developing news releases, brochures, & advertisements, as well as developing the website for "on-line" ordering.

Please contact Ken Wheeler or any chapter officer if you would like to participate with the membership committee.

If you have a family membership, you can obtain membership cards for your included family by listing their names in the space provided on the application/renewal form. Please note that the family membership only covers children to the age of 16.

Please check beside your name on the member roster each meeting. Check your renewal dates. Some MSSA tournaments require the Captain to be a MSSA member. This attendance information is useful for planning future meetings and activities. Please update your demographic information and email addresses.

Report from Bill's Fishing
Shack
By Bill Johnson

February is not a month good for fishing unless you are traveling south to warmer climate and waters. With that in mind, I took my cold and braved the snow blown roads on Sun., Jan 23, to work at the Chesapeake Fishing and Outdoor Expo in Upper Marlboro. Those who braved the bitter cold and wind were not disappointed and found numerous vendors with fishing supplies for the Bay. Tyler's Tackle had his usual great prices and great baits for the spring trophy striper season. I'm looking forward to his visit at our March 9 meeting. These cold evenings are a good time to hunker down by the woodstove and respool my reels and assess my needs for baits for the upcoming year.

My next adventure will be to the MSSA Annual Convention in Ocean City on Feb. 4-6. I'm looking forward to seeing new faces and renewing old acquaintances as we enjoy favorite dishes found in the Hospitality Room. It will probably be too late by the time you read this to make reservations, but it will be a mistake if you don't join us next year. It's a lot of fun.

If you happen to go south for the fish and the warm sun, get a sunburn and a big fish for me. For any questions about legislative issues or fishing, I can be reached at my Frederick number, 301-663-4802.

Call me with questions at my Frederick number, 301-663-4802.

P.S. Anyone interested in a Sony PlayStation 2, new in box, never used, contact me.
