Updates From Rob

King Mackerel Tournament Update:
The 5th Annual Trip is history. We all had a great time and the weather held until the last 2 days. We had 16 boats participate in the tournament with approx 60 people. The week started out on Sunday with a Captain's Meeting and cookout: fried chicken, hot dogs hamburgers and all the sides. Thanks to Todd and Jerry Leuters for bringing the food. Then the fun started as we gave away over $1,000 in prizes and gift certificates. Thanks goes to Steve Shechtel for contacting the following sponsors:

Boaters World & Chapter:
Icey TeK Cooler

Captain Stacey's:
5 dozen baits.

Freeman's Bait & Tackle:
2 $50 gift certificates.

Chapter: King Gaff and Rod & Reel Combo Shimano TLD15 R w/ Outerbanks custom rod.

Every Captain was given a Riggin
Bucket (worth $30) compliments of Bahama Bobs and Extreme Offshore.

We had long sleeve shirts, sweatshirts and T's with the tournament logo and sponsors. We had 16 fish over 20lbs and 4 fish over 30 lbs during the tournament. Every boat caught fish and a 1st Time Captain walked away with the most money, congrats to Tyler Watson who ended up with $2,220, not bad for his 1st king trip. Tyler started with terrible luck as he had the winning raffle ticket in the Sunday drawing but decided to go grocery shopping and missed his choice of any item above. He obviously made up for it in the tournament. He also won the random drawing at the meeting for $150. Someone will need to remove the horseshoe from you know where. In total $4,145 dollars was up for grabs this year and here's what transpired.

Another thank you goes out to Bud Wildman for pulling the chapter trailer to N.C.

And those of you that need a Gordon update, no not Jeff Gordon, but our own Gordon Jernigan - yes he did get to use Sea Tow again this year at the Tournament. However I will vouch this time it was not his fault. In fact, we all found out how the down home folks in N.C. usually drop everything to help you out. It's nice to see the way we get treated even with the out of state plate.

Next years sign-up is right around the corner so make your plans now for another great week Oct 7th - 16th, 2005. Tournament Days are Oct. 10-14th.
