Correction to March newsletter The NC King Mackerel Trip will be Oct 8-16th. The fishing tournament is Oct 11-15th. Sorry for the confusion on dates last
month. We have 20 boats signed up as of the last meeting and these reservations were faxed to the Sundowner Motel already. If you did NOT make reservations with us already then I suggest you call the Sundowner directly at 252-726-2191 and let them know you are with the Frederick
Group. Slips tend to fill up quickly so get this done ASAP. We will have a rigging get together later in the year for anyone who is interested. Any questions call Rob at 301-696-7851.
The CCA was at the last meeting & our very vocal Steve O'Neill "Menhadden Man" aka "Monkey Love" may be heading up a chapter in Frederick. You can check out the CCA at CCAMD.ORG. Steve we are looking
for an update.
We are planning a Florida trip for next year to, sometime in March, either to Singer Island (West Palm Beach) or the Keys depending what everyone wants to do. The cost should be less than $1,000 for the week (lodging & slip). It will be a family fishing trip with Sailfishing
right off the beach & plenty of exploring, coves, beach & cruising opportunities. We stayed in Singer Island for our trip to the Abacos. It's only 1 min. from the inlet with a great beach right in front of the marina for rafting up. Please see Rob at the June meeting if
you are interested in additional information so we can set up a meeting specifically for this.

Membership News
By Ken Wheeler
Welcome new members to the Frederick Chapter.
Many of us joined the MSSA at a boat show during the winter months. With that time approaching again, please check your membership renewal. I am available during meetings for renewals and new memberships. If you are interested in helping at
the MSSA display during any of the shows, contact any chapter officer. The MSSA display is a great way to share with others what the organization has meant to you.
Please welcome new members to the Frederick Chapter.
If you have a family membership, you can obtain membership cards for your included family by listing their names in the space provided on the application/renewal form. Please note that the family membership only covers children to the age of 16.
Please check beside your name on the member roster each meeting. Check your renewal dates. Some MSSA tournaments require the Captain to be a MSSA member. This attendance information is useful for planning future meetings and activities. Please update your demographic information
and email addresses.
Attendance at the May meeting was approximately 80 members.

Report from Bill's Fishing
Shack By Bill Johnson
Wow! What a spring striper season! If you weren't able to hook up with these fabulous fish this spring, then you need to reevaluate your technique before fall. Be sure to check with one of the many successful rock fishermen in our chapter. The MSSA
Spring Tournament was the best in many years, both in regards to weather and fishing. Sunday the 16th started out well in the morning and slowed in the afternoon. It also was among the last days of the big fish.
Croaker fishing is turning on in the mouth of the Patuxent River in the usual spots. The green holly. the three-legged buoy, and Drum Point are among the best spots. An occasional spot along with a surprise trout now and then will show up in some of these locations. The bite is
usually early, early morning or late evening with a slow bite of scattered smaller fish during the day.
There are a few reports of flounder showing up just below the Potomac River in Virginia, so look for these fish to show up in Maryland waters in the next week or two. Have lost a few shad tails in recent days to bluefish, so the bite should be on for them in two-three weeks.
This past Chapter rockfish tournament was the best ever, and thanks goes out to the ones responsible for making the arrangements at the Comfort Inn Beacon Marina. If you didn't fish this tournament on your boat or someone else's, you really missed a great time.
