President's Message
by Dave Griffin

Thanks to all the members who attended the March meeting & welcome our new members. We had over 80 people at the meeting & were well packed in. Our meeting place has served us well over the last several years, but time has come for a change. I couldn't be happier about our new meeting place Thurmont Conservation & Sportsman's Club. It's an easy drive, located about halfway between Frederick & Thurmont. Directions are in the newsletter. There is a nice indoor meeting room. In nice weather there is an outdoor pavilion for cookouts & meetings. The members of the Sportsman's Club have been very gracious to allow us to use this facility. I believe it will suit our needs perfectly. I know that for some it will be a little bit longer drive, but it will be well worth it.
Spring is finally here. Most of us are anxious to get out on the water again. Okay, so there are a few who were lucky enough to spend all or part of the winter in Florida, but for those of us who have had our boats put to bed for the winter, you can dewinterize now & join us on our annual Shakedown Cruise on Saturday, April 10. We'll be leaving Sandy Point headed for lunch at Fisherman's Inn at Kent Narrows taking the northbound or
southbound route depending on the weather. Weather should be good though, as I have already predicted that we will have good weather for all of our MSSA events this year, even the Spring Tournament! We now have about 10 boats signed up for this trip; so if you'd like to join us, please give me a call at 304-676-3256.
Our first fishing trip of the year is in April, the Frederick Chapter Annual Flounder Tournament in Chincoteague, VA. We are expecting about 30 boats this year. See Rick Etzler at the April meeting to sign up. We're expecting excellent weather for this event, also!
Thanks to Matt Abel for being our guest speaker at the March meeting. Matt & his lovely wife drove all the way up from Pocomoke and, as always, gave a terrific presentation. Be sure to thank him by stopping by the 'Seahawk Sports Center' on Rt 13 just before the VA. Line. At the April meeting, Georgie from 'Tyler's Tackle' will have a table set up with all of your rockfishing needs so come prepared. We will have some great raffle prizes and will be gearing up for flounder & rock fishing in the next month.

See you at the meeting.
Dave Griffin
