Next Spring -2005 we are considering a trip in March to trailer our boats to West Palm Beach for a week of fishing & fun. Preliminary cost for the motel & marina will be just under $1000 for 7 nights It's a great location, 2 min. from the inlet & the fishing is right on the beach. There is plenty to do besides fishing, so everyone is welcome, as we may do some day trips to other inlets up & down the coast. We'll have a sign-up sheet at the next meeting & then do mini-meeting on another night to work out the details. The plan is to get an extra boat trip in before we start boating here & then you don't need to rewinterize when you get back.
Chincoteague Island, VA
Fishing Report
by Charlie Koski

The cold has set in here on the island & most everyone has been hunting. Being here on the Atlantic Flyway, we get to see a lot of different species of wildfowl, which brings to thought, cast & blast. This has become a great pastime in the sportsman's things to do. Spend the morning hunting & afternoon or after your limit go fishing or vice-versa. Just a thought! There are stripers being caught on trolling stretch's out off the beaches along the coast. I hear it has been great fishing between Wachapreague & Quinby. The Coastal season lasts 'til the end of March with both fish over 28".
Some good news has been relayed to the Chincoteague Island Charter Assoc. on flounder regulations. From the meetings it is being said that the size will be 16.5" with a 5 fish bag limit. This reduction is due to the low catch records of Summer flounder in VA. especially on the seaside.
The bayside did exceptionally well on flounder especially off of Kiptopeake & Cape Charles. We are keeping our fingers crossed & hope this talk turns to pen when the meetings on final regulations are held this month.

We went down to Virginia Beach to fish out of Rudee inlet on Sunday, Dec. 27. We fished outside the inlet 1-3 miles off the beach in 30-50 ft. of water and caught many rock fish 26-39" long. The weather was sunny, cold and wind was SW at 5-10. Crabby caught two Tom Musser caught one, Charlie Appleby caught five and Wayne Smith caught three.
On Monday
we went to Oregan Inlet to fish and everyone limited out within an hour. We fished 1-3 miles off the beach, in 35-50 feet of water about 8-10 miles south of the inlet. Tom Musser caught a 47- 48 inch Rockfish and limited out. Crabby limited out with rockfish 36-39 inch long. Charlie & Mo Appleby and Steve Scheltel limited out with six big rockfish 34-38" long.
