Rob's World
If you missed the
November meeting you missed a great one with Frank Darringer
owner of MidShore Electronics in Cambridge, MD. He answered
questions & gave insights into VHF antennas (Shakespeare
is the most widely used but is also the worst in performance),
VHF's, fish finders, electronics in the future. He is
a wealth of knowledge. They’re a top-notch company
matching discount house prices & providing service
& instruction after the sale. If you’re considering
any electronics, call Frank at 410-228-7335. Anyone
that would like to get into a show for free can do so
by volunteering to work the MSSA booth for a few hours.
It’s easy & you get to meet some new people.
Please let Rob know via 301-606-1892. Chuck Mullaney
has graciously agreed to utilize his motor home to transport
approx. 10 people to the Atlantic City Boat Show. It’s
one of the best shows around & we leave in the morning
(Feb 7th) coming back that same night. It has a full line
of fishing boats with factory reps. & a huge area
of tackle & accessories. It can take 1/2 day just
to get through that. If necessary, we can rent a van if
we fill the motor home. See Rob at the meeting to signup.
The MSSA convention is also Feb 6-8th at the Princess
Royale in Ocean City. Everyone is welcome. Discounted
rooms are available. Contact main office at 410-255-5535
to make credit card payment. See Tidelines for additional
information. We have quite a few members that go. They
always have plenty to eat & drink in the hospitality
room. Ask Walt Shaw, Maureen & Charlie Appleby, Fred
Keen or Bill Johnson to name a few. |
Chincoteague Island, VA
Fishing Report by Charlie Koski
The weather has
been picture perfect & delightful on the ESVA. We’ve
had our normal fall NW blows as well. I’m sure Mr.
Winter is headed our way. The flounder never came back
like we had hoped but some are catching shorts. I pulled
my boat before Isabel & never put her back in. We
had high tides & water over Main Street but faired
better then our boater families on the western shore of
MD. Striper Season opened in VA on Oct. 4 - Dec. 31. Nice
fish are being caught in the surf & a few under the
bridges on the causeway. The most popular bridges are
Queen Sound & Main Channel & best time is at night
during slack tide. Cast buck tails with curly white grub
tails into the pilings. On the surf, cut baits on fluorescent
floating hooks have been working. Use poppers & minnow
plugs for casting. Coastal min.size is 28". No fishing
license is required on Assateague Island.
The Coast Guard is soliciting feedback on the best use
of the Lighthouse as a major aid to navigation. The news
article can be found at chincoteaguebeacon.com

Frederick Chapter Yearbook
Wayne Smith, our photographer, would like photos of member's boats. His email is:
or bring to next meeting. A book of all of the chapter rigs will be on display at the meetings. This way we can put a name with
a boat.
For fish
pictures, complete a Fishing
Album Submittal Form
& attach picture of fish & submit to Wayne
Smith. Forms available at meetings & the website.
