Report from Bill's Fishing
Shack
By Bill Johnson

Slow fishing is reported on the Bay. Ralph Cope & I fished the morning of Aug 26, as weather & sunrise were beautiful. Drifting caught flounder up to 16½" & a few spot. Reports of stripers being live-lined off the power plant ran us up to check it out. We picked up one 14" striper on a large minnow. We saw breakin' fish off Cove Pt Beach the prior eve. We went there & saw small rock & blues working the shallows off Cove Pt. We flounder fished 1 last time & caught fish up to 16½" on every drift. Working birds were in deeper water off Cove Pt. We jigged with Gotcha plugs & caught rocks to 20" & a blue. The cooler wasn't full, but we had fresh fish & alot of action on a beautiful day on the Bay. There's reports of small trout on the eastern edge. Late evening chumming around the 500-yard perimeter at the gas dock has produced rock up to 22"& white perch being caught on artificial jigs in the grass beds in the creeks off the Patuxent River. It's a pleasure to see birds working over breaking fish with Spanish mackerel doing their arching leap. I have trolled Gotcha plugs effectively in the past for Spanish mackerel. If you're a fly or light spin cast fisherman, it's a good time to take advantage of these breaking fish. For latest reports, call the Fishin' Shack 410-326-1891. I would like to get a group for a night head boat trip out of Solomon's.

Anyone interested can call me at the Fishing' Shack.
