President's Message
by Dave Griffin
As September rolls around and we say good-bye to summer, we can hopefully look forward
to the best fishing of the year over the next couple of months. At our next meeting we will be making preparations for our
North Carolina King Mackerel trip. Instead of a guest speaker, we will have a question and answer session regarding aspects of the
trip to include accommodations, fishing locations, techniques, tournament info & other items of interest. If you haven't taken
this trip with us yet, talk to someone who has & be sure to make plans to join us next year.
At last count, we still have about 150 football pool books yet to be returned. We have to get these books turned in at the
September meeting. This represents $3000 that we do not have in the chapter treasury. The chapter does it's best to give as much
as it can back to the members in the form of fishing trips, informational meetings, newsletter, website, etc. We also make a large
donation to the MSSA Scholarship Foundation each year. But we can't do these things without your help. The football pool books are
our main source of income to finance all these things. So please sell or buy the books and get them back to us right away. I thank
all of you for your efforts regarding this.
This notice may be a little late, although it has been in our calendar of events. Our overnight tuna trip is scheduled for
Sept 6-7 in Chincoteague. Hopefully the fishing is beginning to heat up finally. Call Rob or me for more information.
See you at the Sept meeting where we will be raffling off a king mackerel rod & reel combo! |
