President's Message
by Dave Griffin

The MSSA Spring Tournament was a great success this year in spite of the weather. After last year's storm we all figured that this year couldn't be any worse than that! But I believe Mother Nature pushed the envelope about as far as she could without it actually being worse! Three days of rain, wind and cold, but for those who hung in there they were mostly rewarded with good fishing. And the Frederick Chapter was well represented at the awards ceremony. Ray Potter won 2nd place overall with winnings totaling over $18,000. Rob Pellicot caught the largest fish on a Hydra-Sport boat for $500 (and it was the first fish caught on his new boat!). Kris Hafer & Daryl Thomas also caught money fish. Congratulations to all of them.

At the June meeting we will be giving out the awards for the Frederick Chapter Spring Tournament. Thanks go out to those of you who, after a day of fishing in the nasty weather on Friday, still showed up for the cookout. It was just plain cold, wet and miserable but everyone remained in good spirits and a nice Penn rod reel combo was won by Ralph Cope. A special thanks really goes out to Earl Gamber who very graciously allowed us to use his place for our cookout. Since we could not get the cottage that we've had in the years past, this really saved the day for us. Thanks Earl !!

Many chapter members are now gearing up for the offshore season and the MSSA Tuna-ment is only about 2 1/2 weeks away. A number of Frederick Chapter boats will be fishing out of Chincoteague and we encourage you to join us. We will have more information at the meeting, but if you think you might like to enter, be prepared with your entry fee payable by check cash or MC/VISA and I can take care of it for you. See you all at the June meeting.
